Chueca: the city of gay environment

Modernization of the neighbourhood

Chueca is the place where the eldery take their small dogs for a god through paving streets or where homosexual couples like to have drinks on their way from work. In the centre of Chueca, the Plaza de Chueca is allocated next to the homonymous subway station and it is the meeting place. Moreover, the modernization of the equipments is a result of its gradual change. An example of that is San Antón’s market, which is now transformed in a leisure area with not only an art gallery and a bar but also with lifelong fishes and butcher’s shops inside.

Gay environment

Thanks to the gay community, the neighbourhood has been revitalized. Bars, discos, restaurants, tour operators, libreries and all types of shops are oriented to the gay audience that frequent this place and the rainbow flag waves in many balconies. in essence, although it is a traditional neigh bourhood – due to the street layout and the design of its buildings -, Chueca is as well and open-minded respectful neighbourhood that recieves everyone regardeless of their gender, age or sexual condition.

Squares and open spaces

One of teh particular attractions of Chueca is the many different people that walk around its streets and squares, that sit in the bars or that simply move around.

The Chueca square, the one of Vázquez de Mella or the one of Fuencarral are the main tourist attraction because they are a meeting point and a place of passage to other places of the neighbourhood. There are many bar terrases and there is usually groups of people sitting on the floor because they are alwais full.

Fuencarral, which is mostly a pedestrial street. must be a part of the trip. There are many fashion stores, some of them are widely known but others are not. There are many other streets full of commerces but nothing like Fuencarral. It is not possible to know Chueca if you have not walked through Fuencarral.

Markets in Chueca

Revitalize old markets and transform them into meeting points where contemporary restaurants are next to traditional shops, has become a trend  nowadays. There are several places like that in Chueca.

San Antón and San Idelfonso’s markets are the most popular ones. The first one, opens everyday. It has a traditional part in the first floor; the second one is the place for show cookings, take away food and exhibition halls; in the third floor, there ir a terraze and a bar. The second one is a small place with three floors. Its aim is to replicate London and New York Street Food Markets. There are 18 food stalls that offer products to taste inside or while you have a walk thorugh the sorrounders. There are also three counters (one in each floor) and two terrases.

Bars and restaurants in Chueca

Thanks to the revitalization of these last years, not only shops but also bars and restaurants has proliferated.. Some of them offer avant-gard cooking while others are specialized in traditional food.

In these restaurants, decorations is as important as food. In Chueca, establishements are open late. Tapas are mixed with tacos and burgers and, in some of these restaurants, it is only possible to dinner if you book in advance. Gastronomic choice is so wide that it is sometimes difficult to choice one place. Chueca is the perfect place to dinner and have a drink.

It is the nerve centre where you can also enjoy my services. Relaxation, enjoyment and the discover your body is also important. My new place, largest and better addapted to my clients necessities, is inmersed in this environment.

Enjoy Chueca and all it can offer you.

You won’t regret it.
